Celebrities line up at the Valentino Fall 2024 Paris fashion show

Maria Sharapova defeated Serena Williams in time play.

The two tennis players both appeared at Valentino's show on Sunday. Sharapova arrived early; Williams walked in just before the show started. But it's all love-love.

„There's something about coming early and watching a show together,” Sharapova said. „The beauty of it is not just what's on the catwalk, but actually the people and the materials and the material that it takes to put a show together. So those are magical moments for me.

Sharapova attended a few shows this Paris Fashion Week, including Victoria Beckham and Hermès. She said she learned how much work goes into putting a collection together through her friendship with Gabriela Hearst.

„Understanding what's going on in the fashion industry and how physically and mentally it is to create consistent shows, season in, season out, I really appreciate the industry, especially the female designers I know,” she said. „I know how hard it is to juggle motherhood and work.”

Sharapova said she was inspired by how designers manage aspects of their business, including beauty. He has been retiring since 2021 after selling his confectionery business Sugarboa. But he is now working on a platform that is not in the fashion industry but is close and covers a lot, he said mysteriously. „But it's still early days,” he said. „TBD.”

Singer Gracie Abrams arrived in Paris and did her homework before the show — watching „The Devil Wears Prada” in her hotel room.

Does she think this is an accurate reflection of the fashion industry? „Lightly, in a way, I mean that very fondly,” he said. „This is my favorite movie.”

(Valentino creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli's dog Miranda, as in Priestley's, sat in the front row, so the film was a theme.)

Karl Lagerfeld's home for 30 years was looked around at the Hotel Pozzo di Borgo and he declared it palatial. Abrams toured with Taylor Swift during the summer and fall, and was eager to step into the real-life world of the now-classic film.

„I feel inspired to be in a new environment for a second,” he said. The singer has a few fashion shows under her belt, but it's been years since then and she's trying to take the moment to the fullest.

“I always miss Fashion Week when it's over. Honestly, being around artists of all kinds is so inspiring…[music and fashion are] Two ways to express yourself. I loved being dressed by the most genius people in the fashion world. I am generally very low maintenance and laid back. So it's a rare experience for me to dress like this.

She was in a lace dress with a full skirt, but no full coverage on top. Abrams added another layer because the first impression was a little overwhelming, despite the revelations of current trends and runway looks. „It's almost a pastiche situation,” he said.

The album is also closed. He would only say that the writing process was „cathartic.”

„But I love it more than anything. I'm happy that it will belong to everyone else, hopefully very soon,” he said.

„The Bear” actress Molly Gordon seemed to get the writing room buzzing by sharing that she's working on a screenplay she's directing.

„I was in my sweatpants, big shirt era. So putting on a dress like this and putting on my makeup was a different energy. I didn't leave the house,” she said. Gordon was accompanied by his mother, Jessie Nelson. They were both so tired, she said, that they tried to speak to the waiters in broken French. She joked, „But it looks like we're speaking in tongues.”

He won't divulge anything about the plot of his script, but talked about the process. „You try it, and then you hate it, and then you write it, and then you direct it, and then you love it, and then you direct it again. You never quite realize it, but you jump off the bridge and try to be creative.

Gordon said he learned from working with directors Olivia Wilde on „Booksmart” and Natalie Krinsky on „Booksmart,” and directed „Theatre Camp” with Nick Lieberman last year. Now he is all set for his first solo project.

„You learn tips and tricks, and then you build your own toolbox. I've been lucky enough to keep acting, so I steal a lot from other directors. But when it turns out, it's the dream,” she says, stepping behind the camera.

The actress has no plans to go into fashion, but she knows what women want: pockets. In terms of tailoring, her Valentino minidress came complete with them. “I mean, what more do you want? I literally gasped when I realized it had pockets. Like a terrible suffocation. But now I want my hands to be fully visible in every photo.
