Jakarta (Antara) – Human Resources Minister Aida Faucia attended the opening ceremony of the 13th World Skills ASEAN Competition held in Singapore to encourage the Indonesian delegation.
In a statement received in Jakarta on Sunday, he said, „I hope that my presence here will inspire our country’s best young talent in this biennial event.
The 13th WorldSkills ASEAN competes in a total of 22 industry sectors and draws participation from 10 member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). This year, Indonesia is sending two representatives to compete in 18 competitive fields.
They are mechatronics, electronics, mobile robotics, refrigeration and air conditioning, industrial automation, automobile technology, fashion technology, restaurant service, beauty, hairdressing, mechanical engineering CAD, IT software solutions for business, web technologies, IT network system administration, graphic design technology, CNC maintenance, Internet of Things, and rapid transit systems.
Minister Baucia further noted that Indonesia is poised to become the overall champion of the international skills competition which will be held from July 23 to July 27.
„We are confident that Indonesia will take the overall champion title, as we did at the 9th WorldSkills ASEAN in Jakarta in 2012,” he said.
In its earlier editions, WorldSkills ASEAN was known as the ASEAN Skills Competition (ASC). It is ASEAN’s biennial activity aimed at intensifying training cooperation, promoting vocational education and training, and improving the quality of the youth workforce in the region.
13 the WorldsSkills ASEAN is being hosted by Singapore in 2020 after being delayed due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
