The Egyptian Red Cross sends 30,000 hot Iftar and Suhoor meals daily to the occupied Palestinian territory of Gaza.

The Egyptian Red Cross Society (ERCS) announced that it will distribute 30,000 Iftar and Suhoor meals daily to Palestinians facing starvation in the Israeli-besieged Gaza Strip during the holy month of Ramadan.

ERCS is preparing a temporary kitchen at its food distribution center in Sheikh Juwaid city, North Sinai.

„With every hot meal, we send a message: You are not alone, we are with you until we overcome this crisis,” read a statement from ERCS on Wednesday.

The 30-day Islamic holy month of Ramadan begins on Monday or Tuesday.

More than 85 percent of Gaza's population of 2.4 million have been internally displaced multiple times, primarily from north to south, and are taking refuge in 155 UNRWA facilities, according to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).

Nearly 70 percent of Gaza's 439,000 homes and almost half of its buildings have been damaged or destroyed, according to media reports.

Since the start of the Israeli war on Gaza on 7 October, Egypt has led efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza through the Rafah border crossing.
