The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has released a stunning video of the Pencil Nebula. According to NASA Hubble, „The Pencil Nebula was formed by a star that exploded thousands of years ago and is part of the massive Vela supernova remnant.”

The image was captured by NASA and the Hubble Heritage Team. The Hubble Space Telescope, launched in 1990, changed the fundamental understanding of the universe from determining the atmospheric composition of planets around other stars to discovering dark energy.

Bringing back the Pencil Nebula, NASA says it’s about 815 light-years away in the Vela constellation. Also, the nebula’s linear, narrow shape earned it the nickname „Pencil Nebula”.
