Indonesia’s new customs post opens, boosts Japotebek economy

JAKARTA (Antara) – Vice President Maruf Amin said that the Simangis-Sibitung Toll Road in West Java will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of economic activities in the Greater Jakarta (Japotedabek) area.

„This toll road will increase the efficiency and effectiveness of economic activities in the region, which will positively affect the national economy,” he said at the opening ceremony of the toll road in Bogor, West Java on Tuesday.

He expressed hope that the interconnection of the Simangis-Chipitung toll road and other toll road networks in Jabotetabek would result in greater regional connectivity between Jakarta and its surroundings.

The 26.18-kilometer toll road is part of the Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR). It was built with an investment of Rp10.6 trillion (about US$652 million).

„For us, this toll plaza will lead to greater regional connectivity and accessibility that will support our national development goals,” he said.

Section 1 of the toll road connects Chimangis and Jatikariya, Section 2A connects Jatikariya and Sikes, and Section 2B Sikes and Sibitung.

Section 1 and Section 2A became operational in 2020 and 2023 respectively, while Section 2B opened on Tuesday, marking the completion of the development of the Simangis-Sibitung Toll Road and the overall JORR 2.
