Shabgat Wushur, vice president of the All China Youth Federation, spoke about the transformative role of recent technological advances. “In the past few years, we have seen significant technological advances, including cloud computing, big data, blockchain and artificial intelligence,” he noted. „These discoveries not only change the way people live, but also open up new avenues for youth advancement.”
UNICEF China Representative Amagobe Sande highlighted the impact of digital on youth. „Young people between the ages of 15 and 24 use the Internet more than any other age group,” he added, adding, „Tens of future jobs will require advanced digital skills, from coding to development, from machine learning to big data analytics. Cyber security to artificial intelligence.”
However, he cautioned, „Unfortunately, many young people cannot compete for these jobs.” With 2.7 billion people worldwide still offline, Sande underscored our collective responsibility. „We need to work together to bridge the digital divide and create a safer online environment,” he said. Emphasizing the broader goal, he added, „Our mission is to leave no one behind and ensure that every youth is empowered to reach their full potential and contribute positively to the world, both online and offline.”
During the Lightning Talks session, youth leaders from different countries of the Program for Global Youth Development’s regular programs share how digital technologies are enhancing youth development.

The program aims to provide resources, support and opportunities for the development of global youth in the digital sector, helping them achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals in the digital age and promoting global development collectively.
An additional highlight is the launch of the International Youth Research Partnership Program, which invites global youth research teams to propose projects focused on domains such as rural revitalization and digital empowerment.
