At the invitation of the negotiators, the cinema helped facilitate common ground throughout the budget negotiations to avoid default.
Washington – Arizona Senior Senator Kirsten Sinema released the following statement on the Senate’s passage of a bipartisan budget deal to protect America’s economy and avoid default:
“Default is not an option, and Congress’ willingness to hold our nation’s economy hostage for political points is wrong. Today’s passage of our bipartisan budget agreement protects our economy and the opportunities for everyday Americans to build better lives. Congress must come together to pass budgets on time, manage overspending to reduce costs, and make smart investments that encourage growth and innovation, while protecting critical programs that serve Arizona’s veterans, seniors, tribes and families.
Because of his trusted relationships with the US House and White House negotiators, Sinema was called upon to facilitate common ground between the two sides through budget negotiations. As the agreement progressed, he worked to find consensus on a range of issues to avoid national defaults, promote policies that support manufacturing, infrastructure and energy development, laying a foundation of good faith for continued bilateral cooperation.
