CAEXPO demonstrates the closeness between Chinese and ASEAN businesses: VP Amin

NANNING, China (ANTARA) – Vice President Maruf Amin said the China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) proved the closeness between China and ASEAN trading companies.

„For this reason, Indonesia is present at this year’s CAEXPO by presenting a 'Commodity Pavilion’ showcasing food, beverages, fashion and other fine products, and a 'City of Charms’ pavilion represented by Central Kalimantan Province.” Amin said on Sunday.

According to the VP, it is important to promote communication and networking between ASEAN and Chinese business enterprises.

„I invite the guests to visit the two pavilions. I once again congratulate CAEXPO and the 20th China-ASEAN Business Investment Summit (CABIS) as a productive and solid cooperation platform for the partnership between China, ASEAN and Indonesia,” he said.

He stressed the importance of continued cooperation between ASEAN and its comprehensive strategic partners, such as China, to boost economic growth.

„Secondly, it is important to strengthen mutually beneficial regional economic integration,” he added.

He explained that the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) should be implemented as it contributes US$187 billion to Southeast Asia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

ASEAN and China are also negotiating the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area (FTA) 3.0, focusing on new areas such as digital economy, green economy and market access for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

„In the midst of the pandemic and various global challenges, we must highlight that ASEAN and China’s economic, trade and investment cooperation continues to grow positively, and that ASEAN has become China’s largest trading partner since 2020,” the Vice President said.

The 20th CAEXPO in Nanning, China is being held from September 16-19, 2023 with the theme „Work together for a harmonious home and shared future”.
