Beijing, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) — The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has developed a more inclusive and effective category of development science — the category of Belt and Road Development Studies — a report released by the Xinhua Institute on Wednesday argued. .

The report, titled „The Belt and Road Development Studies — A Synergy Approach to Global Development,” was released at the thematic forum on think tank exchange during the Third Belt and Road Forum on International Cooperation.

According to the report, over the past 10 years, more than 150 countries and 30 international organizations have joined the BRI and signed more than 200 cooperation documents. The BRI is included in the documents of the United Nations, G20, APEC and Shanghai Cooperation Organization. BRI has also become a popular center for international academic research.

The report seeks to explain the high-level design of the BRI and review its effects in practice. Based on these observations, the report explores the historical, practical and theoretical logic of the BRI’s continued evolution and discusses its global significance for the present and the future.

The report demonstrates that the Belt and Road Development Studies are based on the fundamental concepts and practical experience of high-level cooperation within the BRI and aim to promote common development globally.

This approach to development, supported by „linkage,” „activation” and „integration” (hereafter referred to as the „CEC Synergy Approach to Development”), is the central focus of Belt and Road development studies, the report says. It aims to address the two primary problems of global growth — the lack of strong driving forces and unbalanced growth.

The report argues that CEC integration focuses on infrastructure, industrial development and expanding the role of government.

Belt and Road Development Studies is a sharing of China’s lessons learned from its extensive interactions with the world, with an emphasis on integrating and aligning the development goals of various partners to achieve win-win outcomes, the report said.

Drawing inspiration from the history of the ancient Silk Road, exchanges and mutual learning enrich civilizations and expand room for growth through openness and cooperation, the report said.
