Former WWE star Matt Cardona (aka Zack Ryder) recently sat down for an interview Chris VanVliet. During their lengthy conversation, the host of the show asked the guest if fans will see him at the Royal Rumble next month. Cardona replied, „No! Maybe! I don’t know! Who knows?”

He added, „Listen, I’m always ready, aren’t I? And whatever my music is, whether it’s Matt Cardona or Zack Ryder, I’m sure the place is going to rock. I honestly do. So, we’ll see. [I’m] Always ready.”

While Cardona didn’t say yes outright, he didn’t rule out returning to WWE like he did last time. So the question still remains. Will he return to the Stamford-based company or return to his forays into independent wrestling territory?

WWE released Cardona in April 2020 as part of Covid-19 budget cuts, ending his 15-year tenure with the company. After being released from the promotion, he joined the rival company AEW, where he played for a short time. He then jumped ship to Impact Wrestling where he offered his services for about two years.

Later he started doing more independent wrestling and joined DDT Pro-Wrestling and Major League Wrestling. Currently, he is wrestling Game Changer Wrestling, National Wrestling Alliance, and Impact Wrestling (Level 2). He is happy with his run in independent wrestling territories.
