PHILADELPHIA — For the first time in 11 years, The Rock returns to scheduled in-ring action to headline Night 1 of WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia on Saturday, as he teams up with Roman Reigns (7) against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. pm ET, Peacock). It was a prelude to Sunday's main event for Rhodes to „finish the story” and end his 1,300-plus day reign as WWE Universal Undisputed Champion.
If Rhodes and Rollins win on Saturday, Bloodline will be banned from the Reigns-Rhodes match on Sunday. If Rock and Roman wins on Saturday, Sunday's match will be under „Bloodline Rules”, meaning nothing will happen.
Bloodline doesn't just feature in the main event. Jimmy Uso and twin brother „Main Event” Jey Uso will settle the score in a grudge match.
Saturday night also features several title fights. WWE's top two female stars had a huge match for the Women's World Championship as Rhea Ripley defeated Becky Lynch to become the champion. The Intercontinental Championship will be on the line as Gunther's historic reign (now 660 days and counting) will be at stake when he faces Sami Zayn.
„Six-Pack Ladder Match” for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships The Judgment Day (Champions Finn Balor & Damian Priest) vs. DIY (Tommaso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano), The Amazing Truth (Miz and R-Truth), The New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods),. A-Town Down Under (Austin Theory & Grayson Waller) and New Catch Republic (Pete Dunne & Tyler Bad). Waller and Theory won the SmackDown Championship, while R-Truth and Miz won the Raw belts.
Saturday will be Jade Cargill's WrestleMania debut, with Cargill teaming up with Bianca Belaire and Naomi vs. Damage CTRL.
