The PSG superstar has long been seen as the defining superstar of football’s upcoming decade and is following in the footsteps of GOATs Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to claim the mantle of the game’s greatest.
And rightly so! He has already become the first player to score a hat-trick in a World Cup final in Qatar.
As one of the most electrifying players on the planet, Mbappe has captured the imagination of football fans around the world with his blistering pace, tremendous skills and incredible goal-scoring abilities.
His lightning speed and agility terrify defenders. His ability to change direction quickly and accelerate quickly gives him a clear advantage. His explosiveness allows him to easily blow past defenders and cover the floor quickly. Needless to say, his physique is a result of his well-structured training and complimentary dietary choices.
Here, target Kylian Mbappe brings you everything you need to know about his eating habits, including his favorite food, restaurant and cheat meals.
What is Kylian Mbappe’s favorite food?
Mbappe seems to have a particular diet that he has enjoyed throughout his life: Spaghetti Carbonara. It’s a classic Roman pasta dish made with spaghetti, eggs, freshly grated Pecorino Romano cheese, and bacon. The PSG star also loves other pasta dishes such as spaghetti bolognese and pesto pasta.
Pasta, in general, is very popular among football players. It is the perfect food for athletes for several reasons stemming from the same concept: it is healthy and has many benefits such as reducing anxiety levels. They are good for an afternoon practice or before a competition because they help calm the nerves.
It is a very versatile food, so athletes can take it with many healthy foods like vegetables, salads, meat or fish. Another benefit of pasta for athletes is its easy digestion, as it won’t leave you feeling heavy and bloated.
Not to mention, it’s a great source of glucose, the body’s main fuel, so if a pro soccer player doesn’t eat enough, their body won’t have the energy they need to complete training sessions or matches. After exercise, it is important to replenish glucose reserves to help muscles recover.
How to make Spaghetti Carbonara – step by step recipe
- Spaghetti: Spaghetti is the classic pasta, but feel free to use your favorite pasta.
Cheese: A high-quality Pecorino Romano cheese is recommended. Pecorino is a salty sheep’s milk cheese with an intense flavor. If you can’t find it, freshly grated parmesan cheese works well.
- Olive oil
- Bacon or pancetta: Use thick-cut pork for best flavor. You can also use pancetta or Guanciale, a salty pork product made from bacon.
- Garlic: For extra flavor.
- Salt and black pepper
How to do:
- Cook the pasta in a large pot of boiling water for 8-10 minutes or until al dente.
- While the water is boiling, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add bacon or pancetta and cook gently until lightly browned. Add the garlic and cook for another minute, then turn off the heat and place the garlic in a large bowl.
- While the pasta is cooking, make the sauce. In a small bowl, whisk the eggs and cheese together until there are no lumps.
- Add the drained pasta, making sure it’s still hot so it cooks the eggs. Toss the pasta with tongs until the pasta is well coated in the bacon fat. Remove from heat.
- Pour the egg/cheese mixture over the pasta and stir quickly until the eggs are set. Make sure to do this off the heat and quickly so the eggs don’t scramble.
- Add a little of the reserved starchy pasta water and stir until desired consistency is reached.
- Sprinkle with salt, freshly ground pepper, and parsley. Serve immediately while the pasta is hot. You can also eat salad with it.
What restaurants does Kylian Mbappe eat at?
Born and raised in Bondi, a suburb of Paris, Mbappe has spent his entire life in the city, apart from a two-year stint playing for Monaco.
Only good food will help Mbappe as he aims to become the best footballer in the world. Paris is home to nine three-Michelin-star restaurants, including the exclusive Alain Ducasse restaurant at the Hotel Plaza Athénée, L’Espatonne at The Ritz, and healthy-food favorite Arbege. Set menus cost around £500 per person at those locations.
Although he had his pick of some of the best restaurants around, his favorite was CANTINA CHIC, an Italian restaurant on the Champs-Elysées, a hundred meters from the Arc de Triomphe. It’s a go-to spot for most of PSG’s first-team stars, not just Mbappe.
„It’s like a link to PSG,” said Mehdi Abdelhedi, the restaurant’s owner, who shares a close bond with his special customers, such as Mbappe.
The 36-year-old restaurateur explains, „That place is my identity. If I had a boss in my 60s and 70s, it wouldn’t be like this. We can go clubbing together, go shopping. Come eat, even chat. Have the same areas of interest,” explains the 36-year-old restaurateur.
„They’ve never looked at a menu or opened a menu. Every time, I ask them if they want fish or meat: 'Tell me what you don’t like, then let me do it,'” said Abdelhedi.
Mbappe shares a close friendship with teammate Achraf Hakimi and the two have been spotted enjoying meals together at popular restaurants in Madrid and Morocco.
An NBA fan, the 25-year-old frequents Asian fusion restaurant Sei Less in New York whenever he sneaks to the States to watch live basketball games. Located at 156 West 38th St., this trendy eatery has become a hangout for A-list athletes, actors and hip-hop artists, and its signature dish is peanut-sauce covered chicken satay.
Does Kylian Mbappe eat cheat meals or junk food?
Cheat meals are often a common indulgence for professional athletes, with even soccer GOATs like Ronaldo and Messi having cheat meals. Mbappe, even on a cheat day, shows the discipline that has allowed him to stay fit and consistently reach great sprint speeds in matches. The French eat clean food almost all the time, like rice, fish, lean meats.
Although pasta is considered by some to be a low-nutrient, high-calorie processed food that falls into the „junk food” category, it’s important to recognize its versatility and benefits. When prepared thoughtfully, pasta becomes a healthy and balanced food choice, providing a valuable source of energy, fiber and essential nutrients.
