During a show at Peace Hall on Saturday (August 26), Burgess was welcomed to the stage for 'Getting Away With It’.
„We’re going to play a disco song from Hacienda from Manchester,” Marr told the crowd.
„What’s even better,” he added, „is that we’re going to be joined by my friend – he’s a national treasure – Mr Tim Burgess from The Charlatans.”
After the show, Burgess shared footage of the collaboration and called it „such a thrill.”

The performance is the latest in a series of recent stage collaborations by Marr. Earlier this month, Marr was joined on stage by Cass Coombs to perform The Smiths’ classic 'There’s a Light That Never Goes Out’ at Lakefest 2023.
Another connection came when The Cult’s Billy Duffy joined Maar on stage to play songs by The Smiths and Depeche Mode.
The gig at the Cheese and Grain Arena in Frome last week (August 16) was part of Johnny Marr’s latest series of solo shows and featured tracks from across his discography, including solo tracks and classics from The Smiths.
In April, the musician announced summer headline shows across the UK for 2023, which he is set to wrap up at the end of this month. You can check the dates and find the rest Tickets are here.
