JAKARTA (ANTARA) – Apprenticeships have emerged as a solution to quickly meet the demand for skilled workers using the population bonus, according to the Ministry of Manpower.
„Vocational training has become a precise solution to accelerate the demand for skilled workforce,” Deputy Minister of Manpower Afrinsya Noor said in a statement on Wednesday.
By upskilling, vocational training can be a solution to low labor competitiveness in the digitization era and job mismatch during the economic recovery due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
To meet the demand for skilled workforce, the Ministry has implemented the Triple Skilling concept, which consists of skilling, skilling and re-skilling with different goals, targets and outcomes for each function.
„Skills are the most important aspect for workers. With skills, they can protect themselves,” he said during the North Sumatra 2023 National Skills Forum III, which was streamed virtually.
He urged stakeholders to collaborate with the Ministry’s Business and Productivity Training Center (BPVP) to prepare skilled Indonesian human resources to promote the improvement of human resource quality and labor productivity in the regions.
„I hope that we can all be ready to improve the productivity and competitiveness of Indonesian human resources,” he said.
On a separate occasion, Industries Minister Agus Kumiwang Karthasasmita said vocational training is the best training to realize a partnership between the worlds of industry and education.
He explained that through vocational education, the government aims to drive connectivity and relevance between the worlds of education and industry.
The Ministry of Industry continues to promote the development of quality human resources by establishing vocational schools, polytechnics and vocational education and training centers throughout Indonesia.
