Uzbekistan partners with UAE Advanced Technology Research Council to accelerate AI adoption in Falcon

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, February 19, 2024–(Business Wire)–The UAE Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC), tasked with shaping an advanced R&D environment in Abu Dhabi, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the sidelines of the World Government Summit. (WGS) 2024. The alliance aims to leverage technical expertise of ATRC and its affiliates for seamless integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into technology infrastructure and government services from Uzbekistan.

Under the terms of the agreement, Uzbekistan Falcon will explore and implement large language models and Falcon-powered solutions, as well as support the use of Falcon in its digital environment through various use cases. In addition, Uzbekistan will encourage companies and institutions to join the recently announced „Balkan Foundation” and contribute to the advancement of open source Balkan models. The partnership represents an important step in exporting Balkan activity beyond the Middle East at a state level, laying the foundation for international joint ventures that will define the future of technological innovation.

The Falcon Large Language Model, the world's leading open source AI model, is part of the Falcon family of powerful large language models developed by the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), the applied research arm of ATRC. ATRC and its commercialization arm VentureOne launched AI71 in November 2023 as a pilot to provide its customers, organizations and countries with the option to decentralize data ownership.
