„I'm very grateful to be in this position,” Walker said. „At this point, everyone knows my story and how hard it's been, but seeing the joy on my family's faces after the announcement makes it all worth it. I want to thank the Ravens for believing in me. I'm working hard to make them beautiful and all the people in Carolina. I would like to thank all the coaches, teammates and support staff who have been with me during my journey, and now, I can't wait to get to Baltimore and start my professional career.
Despite being forced to sit out the first four games of the 2023 season, Walker was named third-team All-ACC after recording 41 receptions for 699 yards and seven touchdowns as a Tar Heel. His seven touchdowns and 87.4 receiving yards per game led the team, while his 699 yards ranked second.
„We're all very happy for Tez,” said the UNC head coach Mac Brown. „He's had an incredible journey to get to this point and it's really special to see his hard work pay off. Dez is a great player, but he's played so little football at this point that I believe his best days are ahead of him. How his game continues to develop as a member of the Ravens I look forward to seeing him, Tess is a wonderful young man and I know he and his family are now smiling with pride.
Prior to his time in Chapel Hill, Walker spent two years at Kent State. As a member of the Golden Flash, Walker appeared in 20 games and had 63 receptions for 1,045 yards and 12 TDs.
