It’s Travis Scott Fantasy Topping the Billboard 200 albums chart (dated August 19) for a second week, Luminate reported that the set earned 147,000 equivalent album units in the US (down 70%) in the week ending August 10. The album debuted at No. 1 a week ago with 496,000 units — the biggest week for an R&B/hip-hop or rap album in 2023.
Fantasy It was the first rap album since Drake to spend its first two weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in nearly two years. Certified Lover Boy In its first three weeks on the list (Sept. 18-Oct. 2, 2021 charts) it has five total (non-consecutive) weeks on the list. Fantasy Tyler is the first rap album since The Creator to hold the No. 1 spot for a year. Fantasy Sleepy leads the top 10 on the Billboard 200, marking the second time in less than a month that it has had no debut in the region. Three weeks ago, the list dated July 29 had no new debuts in the top 10.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the United States based on the multi-metric consumption measured in equivalent album units compiled by Luminate. Units include album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit is equal to one album sale or 10 individual tracks sold from an album or 3,750 ad support or 1,250 paid/subscription-based official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. Swift’s former No. 1 boyfriend climbs 10-6 (51,000 equivalent album units; up 17%); Post Malone’s Austin falls 2-7 in its second week (50,000; down 55%); Peso plumas Genesis Slips 7-8 (47,000; down 6%); Swift’s former president Folklore 12-9 (44,000; up 9%) — his third time with four albums in the top 10, becoming the first living artist to accomplish the feat in nearly 60 years last month — and Wallen’s chart-topper Dangerous: The Double Album 9-10 (43,000; decline 4%).
