After introducing a feature last month that allows users to save sounds to third-party streaming services, TikTok has announced the expansion of its “Add to Music App” to 19 additional markets.
The video-sharing platform continues its efforts to translate the success of music on the platform to DSPs with its latest development. TikTok initially rolled out the feature in the US and the United Kingdom, allowing users to select their preferred streaming app, including Amazon Music, Apple Music and Spotify.
The latest update will allow TikTokers to assign sounds to the following markets: Canada, Japan, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Ireland, Sweden, Thailand, Malaysia, UAE, Argentina, Colombia, Netherlands, Turkey, South Africa. , Vietnam and the Philippines. Amazon Music users can access the feature if they are Prime or Unlimited customers, although it is not available in Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, UAE, Turkey, South Africa and the Philippines.
Users scrolling through TikTok can access the feature from within your feed, enabling you to switch from the app to the streaming service via the „Add Song” button next to the track name. An additional entry point can be found on the sound description page for each song. On Spotify, the saved song goes to your „Favorite Songs” playlist, while on Amazon, the track is assigned to the „TikTok Songs” playlist or your choice.
„We’ve already had an incredible response to the launch of the Add to Music app in the US and UK,” said Ole Obermann, TikTok’s global head of music business development. „Music fans embrace the opportunity to save music from TikTok directly to their favorite music streaming services, powering music discovery and helping more tracks break out and hit. We’re excited to bring this feature to millions of music fans around the world and give artists even more opportunities to reach new audiences and grow their careers.
“With the Add to Music App, we’ve streamlined the music discovery experience for both TikTok users and artists in the US and UK,” says Lindsey Kelt, TikTok’s distribution partners. „We’re excited to expand access to this transformative feature to TikTok users in many additional countries and bring more joy through a simpler music discovery experience.”
