We’re more than a year away from the 2024 US presidential election, but a certain name is unlikely display Vote by co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin.
During a roundtable discussion on the imminent government shutdown Wednesday morning (Sept. 20), Griffin controversially said that Taylor Swift is doing more for the economy than President Joe Biden.
The comment came after co-host Joy Behar expressed her appreciation for the breadth of Swift’s audience. „I have to give a shout out to Taylor Swift,” she said, because Taylor Swift is really mobilizing young people. „I think that woman is 100 million people — that’s a third of the population of the United States.”
Griffin added, „[Taylor’s] Joe is doing more for the economy than Biden’s agenda, but that’s neither here nor there.
A visibly stunned Whoopi Goldberg clapped back, „Sorry, fake, but it’s OK.”
With Swift’s record-breaking Eras tour poised for a historic total — and the tour’s impact on local economies well-documented — Goldberg took issue with the statement that she’s doing more for the overall U.S. economy than the president.
Swift has had enough time to stay in the political conversation without Griffin’s help. On Tuesday — which also happened to be National Voter Registration Day — Swift posted a message encouraging fans to exercise the full extent of their political power. „I’ve heard you raise your voices and I know how powerful they are. Make sure you’re ready to use them in our elections this year!” she said. „Register to vote in less than 2 minutes.” vote.org/nvrd.” Earlier in the summer (July 17), the “Anti-Hero” singer shared an Instagram story reminding her Nashville fans to vote early in their local elections.
On Wednesday, Swift announced five new vault tracks to appear 1989 (Taylor’s Edition)It’s due out on October 27: „Is it over now?” „Now We Don’t Talk,” „Say No To Go,” „Suburban Legends” and „Slut!”
