Sophia Loren arrives in Hong Kong. Well, a restaurant dedicated to the Italian icon is coming to Hong Kong.
Sophia Loren House opened in Hong Kong's Wan Chai district in mid-April, the first international outpost of the actress' burgeoning restaurant empire.
Sophia Loren House has taken over the four-story Wu Cheong Pan shop, a Hong Kong heritage building that previously housed The Pan restaurant. The location pays homage to the Italy of the 1960s and 1970s, the era of Federico Fellini. sweet life And Lauren's peak as a screen siren. The restaurant was designed by Italian architect Ivo Maria Redelli, who also designed the four Sophia Loren restaurants in Italy, and features Loren-themed artwork.
As for food, Sophia Loren House has four dining concepts across its four floors. There's a street-level Neapolitan pizzeria, and an Italian seafood restaurant with classic dishes on the first floor. The third floor features a retro 1970s themed dance floor and rooftop cocktail bar.
„I have had many passions in my life, one of which is undoubtedly food,” Loren said in a statement. “No director could put me on a diet – and the hours I spent in the kitchen kneading, frying, baking and browning were the happiest of my life. When they asked me to open a chain of restaurants in my memory, I was happy to agree to this wonderful adventure and proud to be part of a group of talented Neapolitans who want to export the „authenticity” of Neapolitan cuisine to the world.
Hong Kong's Sophia Loren House will be the fifth restaurant in the group. 89-year-old Loren opened his first restaurant in Florence in 2021 with Neapolitan businessman and politician Luciano Cimino. The brand later expanded to Milan, Rome's Fiumicino Airport and the southern Italian port of Bari.
