The returning Rishabh Pant scored a superb half-century as India beat Bangladesh by 62 runs.
Pant, who is expected to make his first international appearance in the coming weeks after missing more than a year due to injuries sustained in a car accident since December 2022, scored 53 runs to help his team to 182 for 5.
Arshdeep Singh and Shivam Dubey took two wickets each with the bowling.
Pant and Pandya find their groove
India elected to bat first in New York and lost Sanju Samson for a run, but captain Rohit Sharma (23) rebuilt with a bunt.
The wicketkeeper retired after reaching his 32-ball half-century that included four fours and four sixes, and late pace was provided by Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya.
Yadav hit an 18-ball 31 and Pandya hit an unbeaten 40 off 23 as India cruised to a 183-run victory over Bangladesh. Mahedi Hasan was the pick of the Tigers attack, taking one wicket for 22 runs in his four overs.
Bangladesh immediately fell behind in reply, slipping to 10 for 3 as Arshdeep Singh took two early wickets in the fourth over.
It was soon 41 for 5 in the ninth over, with Shakib Al Hasan (28) and Mahmudullah (40 off) adding 70 runs for the 6th wicket, but Dube took two wickets in as many balls in the last over. A comfortable Indian win.
India play their first group game against Ireland on June 5, while Bangladesh begin against Sri Lanka two days later.
