Netflix’s first live sports event Here it is – and it involves a golf tournament between streamers athletes Full swing And Formula 1: Drive to Survive shows. Competition, it’s called Netflix CupIt will be broadcast live on the service on November 14th at 6PM ET / 3PM PT.
Featuring Formula 1 drivers Alex Alban (Williams Racing), Pierre Gasly (BWT Alpine F1 Team), Lando Norris (McLaren Racing) and Carlos Sainz Jr. (Scuderia Ferrari), the tournament will take place at Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas. With PGA Tour golfers Rickie Fowler, Max Homa, Colin Morikawa and Justin Thomas.
The tournament features four teams, each with a Formula 1 driver and a PGA Tour pro, playing an eight-hole tournament. The top two teams will advance to the final hole and compete for the first Netflix Cup title.
Linking the event to the Formula 1 series event in Las Vegas is an interesting touch. Netflix is reportedly interested in bidding For broadcasting rights of racing series. Netflix still lacks live sports, preferring documentaries like F1 and golf shows and other showcases that focus on NFL quarterbacks, the World Cup and the Tour de France. However, with competitors like HBO Max, Disney / ESPN, YouTube, Apple TV Plus and Amazon’s Prime Video increasingly featuring sports, there is more speculation than ever that that approach will soon change.
