Germany's Alexander Zverev, the fourth seed, defeated 15th seed Karen Kachanova of Russia 6-1, 6-4 to reach the last eight at the Miami Masters on Tuesday night at Hard Rock Stadium.
The German did not face a single break point against her serve in the one-hour, nine-minute encounter.
The 5th-ranked Zverev next plays Hungarian Fabian Marosan. It was the German's 27th quarter-final appearance at the ATP Masters 1000 level and his fourth at the Miami Open.
It marks the first time the 26-year-old has reached the last eight at both the Sunshine Double – Indian Wells and Miami events.
Earlier this week, the German had wins over Canada's Felix Auger-Aliassime (6-2, 6-4) and 31st-ranked American Christopher Eubanks (7-6 (4), 6-3).
In earlier rounds of the tournament, 16th-ranked Kachanov defeated Serbian Laszlo Djer (6-2, 6-4) and 20th-seeded Francisco Cerundolo of Argentina (6-1, 5-7, 7-6). (5)).
