Max Whitlock basks in the glow of the final games

For the three-time Olympic Artistic Gymnastics Champion, Max Whitlock The glow of Great Britain’s Olympic magic never fades.

„When you come out and walk into the Olympic stages or anywhere like the Olympic village, the Olympic training camp, you’re never bored,” Whitlock said Wednesday (July 24) following his official training inside the Percy Arena at Paris 2024. „I’m right. It never gets old.”

A veteran of London 2012, Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020, Whitlock has always found the ability to maintain his brilliance.

The 31-year-old dazzles in training on Wednesday in her signature event, pommel horse, where she will be one of the favorites for gold. A victory in Paris would give him an unprecedented third consecutive Olympic title.

With Whitlock missing the Europeans with a minor injury, it was a welcome sight to see her struggle to score just 10.150 in a pre-Olympic friendly in France at the end of June.

Britt admits, the road hasn’t been all smooth here.

“We had some hurdles, we had some tricky parts, but it’s pretty consistent going into any tournament,” Whitlock said. „I had pains and moments where it was a bit tricky and challenging. I had to look at different ways to get to this point today.

Although Whitlock has made it clear that Paris 2024 will be his final championship, he is far from resting on his laurels.

„I think I tried to leave no stone unturned as much as I could because when you know it’s your last Olympics, you always have that little edge of motivation,” he said. “Everything you do counts and you try to make sure you tick every box you can.
