Manchester City to mirror Julian Alvarez deal for River Plate and Argentina starlet – Paper Round

Man City closing in on Echeverri deal

Claudio Echeverri is following in the footsteps of Julian Alvarez to replace River Plate for Manchester City.

Athletic say the 17-year-old will be part of a deal similar to Alvarez joining the club in January 2022.

Echeverri, who led Argentina to Under-17 World Cup glory in November, will be sent back on loan to the Buenos Aires side as part of the deal.

The article says: „Manchester City are closing in on the signing of River Plate prospect Claudio Echeverri in a deal worth around £17.5 million (€20m/$22m).

„If the 17-year-old attacking midfielder completes his move to City, he will be sent out on loan and a return to River is on the cards.

„It is the same arrangement that City and River agreed when Julian Alvarez signed for the Premier League club in January 2022.

„Echeverri captained Argentina at the Under-17 World Cup in November, scoring five goals, including a hat-trick against Brazil in the quarter-finals.”

Tottenham are tracking Solange

Tottenham are keeping tabs on Dominic Solange ahead of a summer move for the Bournemouth striker, according to a report in The Sun.

Solange scored his first Premier League hat-trick in the Cherries' 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

The source said: „Spurs want to sign a striker in the summer. The club haven't replaced Harry Kane, so adding a new forward is a big priority and Solange is someone they are keeping a close eye on.

„They have already sent scouts to watch him several times this season and they will continue to monitor him in the New Year.

„He ticks a lot of boxes for Spurs and Bournemouth know the kind of form he's showing and then they'll struggle to stop other clubs sniffing around him. They're setting themselves up for a bid.

Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United are tracking the Palmeiras star

Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United are among the English clubs interested in signing Palmeiras starlet Estevao Willian.

Willian, nicknamed 'Messino', made his Palmeiras debut on December 6 and has his heart set on a move to Barcelona.

However, Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo say the Catalans' financial problems mean the English trio could make an approach with Paris Saint-Germain.

The article (translated from Spanish) stated: „Palmeiras want the player to start making up his mind given the pressure that big teams such as PSG, Chelsea, United and City are putting on Messino and are already willing to pay his €60 million.

'Not our intention' – Den Haag on Martial's exit

Eric den Haag says Manchester United do not want to sell Anthony Martial in the January transfer window.

The 28-year-old has just six months left on his current contract and United are in no rush to exercise their option to extend their further 12-month extension.

Metro's report says: „Ten Haag welcomes the chance to add to his attacking options in the January transfer window, but despite Sir Jim Radcliffe confirming a partial takeover, funds will remain tight.

„United were restricted from signing Wout Weghorst on loan 12 months ago following Cristiano Ronaldo's acrimonious exit, but spent £72m on Rasmus Hojlund in the summer.

„The Denmark international has struggled to live up to his massive price tag and has gone a worrying 14 games without scoring a Premier League goal.

„Meanwhile, Martial has fared little better, scoring just twice in all competitions this season, but Ten Hock has little inclination to let Martial leave with attacking options in such short supply.

„Asked ahead of tonight's game against Aston Villa if there was a chance Martial could leave next month, ten Hoag said: 'If we get the news, of course I'll say it. But that's not our intention.'
