Formula 1 returns to Italy for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix as a triple-header of European races takes place at Imola.
Max Verstappen took a stunning win in Miami to extend his world championship lead over Red Bull team-mate Sergio Perez, but all eyes at Imola must be on their rivals.
That’s because Mercedes and Ferrari, who have yet to compete with Red Bull in 2023, are bringing major upgrades to the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari.
While no team is suddenly expected to be able to match RB19’s blistering pace, the weekend should provide big clues as to how the rest of the season will play out.
Lewis Hamilton and George Russell will be hoping their struggles with Mercedes’ W14 are finally under control, while Ferrari will be under pressure to perform in front of a passionate home crowd.
Verstappen’s win in Miami extended his lead over Perez to 14 points, while Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso has a further 30 points in third after taking his fourth podium in five races.
The Emilia-Romagna GP is the first of three back-to-back races in Sky Sports F1, with the thrill of Monaco before Alonso comes home to the Spanish GP in Barcelona.
Every session at Imola is live on Sky Sports F1, with both F2 and F3 races taking place over the weekend.
Qualifying starts at 3pm on Saturday, with the build-up starting at 2:10pm.
Sunday’s Grand Prix build-up begins at 12:30pm before lights out at 2pm.
