A touch of Dior has arrived at the Beverly Hills Hotel just in time for summer.
For the second year in a row, the French fashion house took over the iconic hotel’s pool area, decked it out in Dior motifs, installed a nearby Dior Riviera pop-up boutique and unveiled a capsule collection evoking a Mediterranean beach vacation.
All lounges, deck chairs, sunshades, cushions and cabana drapery have been decked out in a bright coral pink fabric called toile de Jouy Soleil, named for sunny images throughout the pool. The beautifully designed fabric works well with the turquoise water of the pool. There is also a toile de joie sauvage design with lion and landscape paintings, which comes in aquamarine and other colors. Other colors in the collection include lemon yellow and candy pink.
Surrounding the pool and lounge areas are sea shell-covered animals such as lions, giraffes, monkeys and tigers, adding a jungle feel to the space surrounded by tropical vegetation.
A few steps away, a pop-up boutique features the Dioriviera collection, first designed in 2018 by creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri. The place is made to look like a beach apartment with raffia wallpaper, bamboo accents and decor. It’s packed with styles designed for the beach and beyond, with plenty of day wear.
There are swimwear, belted striped cardigans, dresses, scarf tie blouses, mid-length skirts, handbags, totes, sandals, straw hats, towels, barrios, silk scarves and Dior book totes. Additionally, Dior Maison products are offered including tableware sets and linens.
More Dior Maison products are on display in the adjacent citrus grove that separates the hotel from the pool, where Dior Maison Diori Riviera deck chairs, umbrellas, floor pillows and cushions are on display.
You don’t have to go far to enjoy Dior’s beauty offerings. This year, for the first time, a pop-up Dior spa is located inside the hotel’s main spa. Three treatment rooms are decorated with vibrant coral pink toile de joie soleil accents. Last year, a small spa was located in a poolside cabana. This year’s spa expansion allows outside guests to take advantage of seven signature facial and body treatments offered by Dior.
For example, there is a 90-minute treatment called Californian Glow by Dior, which is dedicated to skin recovery. There’s also a 60-minute high-performance anti-aging treatment called Kobi-Dior, inspired by the Kobito techniques developed in Japan.
Additionally, Dior’s skincare and fragrance collections are on sale, including L’Or de Vie, Dior Prestige and La Collection Privée Christian Dior.
For the past 20 years, actress Charlize Theron has been the face of Dior’s Jador fragrance campaign. Recently, she was also appointed as Dior’s new ambassador for high jewelery and skincare. The Oscar-winning actress will be the first Dior ambassador for high jewelry and is expected to showcase the most exclusive pieces designed by Victor de Castellane, Artistic Director of Dior Jewelery for the past 25 years.
The Beverly Hills hotel is one of six Diori Riviera pop-ups around the world, including locations in France, China, Turkey and South Korea. They join eight Dior boutiques and 12 resort concept stores.
„Following the tremendous success of last year’s collaboration, we are thrilled to once again partner with Dior to create a transit experience that is as stylish as it is emotional,” noted John Scanlon, general manager of the hotel. „The timeless appeal of our legendary pool provides the perfect backdrop to celebrate summer with sophistication and whimsy, while the spa’s toile de joie aesthetic and specially curated treatments capture the glow of restorative summer.”
The Beverly Hills Hotel is one of the oldest resorts in the Los Angeles area and an iconic luxury destination. It was commissioned by Margaret Anderson to open in 1912, two years before Beverly Hills became a city. The original hotel was designed in a Mediterranean-revival style by Pasadena, California, architect Elmer Gray. At the time, it was a dude ranch in the middle of bean fields, with horse riding being one of the main highlights. Beverly Hills was a small town for a while; In 1920, the now world-famous city had only 674 residents, compared to 574,000 in neighboring LA.
But the city and its fame grew. The hotel, affectionately known as the „Pink Palace” for its pink exterior, has had many Hollywood moments and brushes with fame. Several movies were shot here, including “Let’s Make Love” with Marilyn Monroe; „Designing Women” with Gregory Peck and Lauren Bacall and „California Suite” by Neil Simon. Hotel guests from the 1950s to the 1970s included the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Princess Margaret and John Wayne. John Lennon and Yoko Ono hid in the Hotel Bungalow for a week.
It’s a well-known Hollywood gathering spot, and the hotel’s Polo Lounge is known for power lunches for the movers and shakers in the entertainment industry.
The first Dioririvera pop-up landed at the hotel last year, with a sandcastle theme. Instead of seashells, the wild animals were covered in sand and the sand figure extended into the pop-up shop. The primary color theme for toile de joie styles is gray and pink. This year’s pop-up will be open until September 2.
