Daniel Ricciardo may be out of F1 races now due to injury, but that hasn’t stopped him from taking a very different drive.

F1 star Daniel Ricciardo has never forgotten his roots – so it’s no surprise to see the Perth-born driver in a recently released tourism ad for Western Australia.

The 34-year-old has launched a new global 'Drive the Dream’ campaign with the WA Government, through Tourism WA.

The aim is for travelers to experience the state’s diverse road trips making WA the 'ultimate destination for a driving holiday’.

Ricciardo’s road trip began in Perth and the Scuderia AlphaTauri driver looked his way. Coral Coast Highway off-ramp.

Western Australia’s Deputy Premier and Tourism Minister, Rita Saffiotti, was very impressed with the campaign.

Ricciardo is currently sidelined after suffering seven fractures at last month’s Dutch Grand Prix, undergoing surgery to insert four screws and a plate into his left arm.

’There’s nothing like a good road trip,’ she said.

’The campaign will help make Western Australia one of the most unique, memorable and desirable places in the world to embark on a road trip adventure now and in the future.’

Meanwhile, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has confirmed that Ricciardo is unlikely to race at the Qatar Grand Prix on October 8 as he recovers from an arm injury.

Ricciardo suffered seven broken bones at last month’s Dutch Grand Prix and underwent surgery to insert four screws and a plate into his left arm.

’I would say probably less [his return] than at the moment,’ Horner said Sky Sports.

’I know Daniel has his sights set on Qatar, he will drive the simulator next week and we will make some decisions based on that.’

Ricciardo recently penned a contract extension at AlphaTauri through 2024.

The new contract guarantees Ricciardo a 14th season in the sport and opens the door for the 34-year-old to regain his place at Red Bull Racing in 2025 when Sergio Perez’s contract expires.
