Christmas Movies 2023: What to Watch

It’s only October, but Hollywood is already gearing up for the holidays.

Whether you love rom-coms, family comedies, or slasher films, these new releases will help you get into the holiday spirit.

1. 'Candy Cane Lane’

Starring Eddie Murphy and Tracee Ellis Ross, this family-friendly comedy features Murphy as a father devoted to his neighborhood’s Christmas decorating contest.

„Candy Cane Lane” premieres December 1 on Amazon Prime.

2. 'It’s a wonderful knife’

If you like holiday horror, this slasher adaptation of the beloved 1946 film “It’s a Wonderful Life” is for you.

Here’s the synopsis: A year after saving her small town from a serial killer, a young woman thinks everyone’s better off without her and wishes she’d never been born. Suddenly transported to a version of her city, it’s true, she has to take down the killer again.

„It’s a Wonderful Knife” is out on November 10.

3. 'The best. Christmas. Forever!’

Although the trailer isn’t out yet, this is Netflix comedy It tells the story of two freaks who come together with their families for Christmas.

Starring Brandi Norwood (aka Brandi) and Heather Graham, the film will be released on Netflix on November 16th.

4. 'Thank you’

If family movies aren’t really your speed, Eli Roth’s new slasher is right up your alley.

Starring Patrick Dempsey and TikTok star Addison Ray, it tells the story of a serial killer who comes to Plymouth, Massachusetts to carve more than just a turkey.

„Thank You” hits theaters November 17.

5. 'Walking Through the Snow’

Ludacris plays a single father who hates the holidays in this upcoming Disney comedy. The trailer hasn’t been released yet, but Official summary Disney describes it as a „hilarious and touching story” about a family’s journey as they bond with each other and learn to appreciate Christmas.

„Dashing Through the Snow” will be released on Disney+ on November 17.

6. 'Xmas’

This rom-com stars Leighton Meester and Robbie Amell as ex-couples forced to spend Christmas together. After Graham and Ali break up, Graham’s family invites Ali to spend Christmas with them in his absence. When Graham unexpectedly comes home for Christmas, chaos ensues.

It will be available on Amazon Freeview and Prime Video on November 17.

7. 'The Naughty Nine’

In a twist on the heist genre, nine children on Santa’s „naughty list” sneak into the North Pole and Santa refuses to deliver presents.

Starring Danny Glover as Santa Claus, „The Naughty Nine” premieres Nov. 22 on Disney Channel and will be available for streaming on Disney+ the following day.

Hallmark year Countdown to Christmas This year will feature 31 new holiday-themed rom-coms.

Starting Friday, Dec. One or more new movies will be screened on the channel every Friday, Saturday and Sunday till the 17th.
