**Olympic medal reallocation policies
** The decision to add Champions Park as an additional venue for medal reassignment ceremonies was taken by the IOC Executive Board (EB) in March 2024 on the recommendation of the IOC AC. This exclusive option is available to existing players. Their reassignment was approved by the IOC EB ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, but they have yet to host the ceremony.
After six years, athletes whose reallocation is approved can choose one of six options for a medal reallocation ceremony at the next edition of the Olympic Games or during a private ceremony.
All options are described in the Olympic Medal Reallocation Principles proposed by the IOC AC and approved by the IOC EB.
Reallocation of Olympic medals is not automatic and is decided by the IOC on a case-by-case basis. If the IOC decides to reallocate Olympic medals, it will only do so after all remedies have been exhausted and all procedures closed by the sanctioned athletes or teams.
Iconic place
Located in Paris’s Trocadero Gardens in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower, Champions Park provided a fitting and unique venue for the athletes to enjoy the Olympic medal ceremony and celebrate their achievements. Throughout the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, thousands have gathered at Champions Park, a first-of-its-kind venue for the Olympic Games that is open to the public for free.
Following their competitions, the medal winners travel to the venue to meet fans and take part in celebratory parades, creating a space that embodies the Olympic spirit and carnival atmosphere of the Games. It has provided a unique opportunity for athletes to engage with fans and commemorate their success in an iconic venue.
