The CPI(M) and the CBI on Saturday alleged that the BJP-led governments at the Center and Haryana are corrupting the economy, undermining democracy and threatening the country's age-old socio-cultural fabric.
CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury and CBI chief Amarjit Kaur urged people to vote at the 'Badlav Sandesh Rally' organized by Left parties in Jind and attended by a large number of people, including women. In the upcoming Lok Sabha and Haryana assembly elections, the BJP will be ousted.
Mr. Yechury cited the legalization of electoral bonds. Something, CBI (M) and CBI parties jointly issued a joint statement. He wondered how the State Bank of India froze the details of donating institutions in defiance of the Supreme Court order. In a series of scandals including demonetisation, the Rafale deal and the Hindenburg revelations, Mr. Yechury said. He said the country needs change of policies and not just change of leaders.
'High unemployment'
CPI national secretary and AITUC president Ms Kaur launched a scathing attack on the Modi government for „making farmers and laborers suffer unprecedented levels of unemployment, poverty and mounting misery”. He said 25% of those who committed suicide last year were daily wage labourers. Even the laborers working under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme were deprived of their due working days. He stressed the need for a workers-farmers alliance to oust the „corporate communal alliance” from power.
In line with the Indian call to „defeat the BJP and save the country”, both the leaders exhorted the people to give a crushing defeat to the ruling BJP-JJP in Haryana state. They hoped that all secular and democratic parties, forces and individuals would come together and ensure that the anti-BJP votes remain undivided in the coming Lok Sabha elections.
Secretaries of the CPI(M) and CPI state units, Surender Singh and Daryao Singh Kashyap respectively, have accused the Qatari government of mindlessly privatizing education, health, electricity and other public sectors.
The rally passed a resolution extending full support to the “Kisan Mastur Mahapanchayat” to be held on March 14 at the Ram Leela Maidan in Delhi on the call of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha and Central Trade Unions to withdraw the four regressive labor codes and other issues.
