According to Lonely Planet, these are the best travel destinations of 2024

Popular travel guide Lonely Planet has released its list of top travel destinations for the coming year, with 50 ideas to inspire your travel plans.

To mark its 50th anniversary, two new categories – Best Value Destinations and Most Sustainable Travel Destinations – have been introduced, expanding on the usual annual recommendations for the best countries, regions and cities to visit in the coming year.

These lists are suitable as a new book for those who want to explore the world’s most amazing places. According to Lonely Planet, there are ten destinations in each category chosen for their topicality, unique experiences, 'wow’ factor and ongoing commitment to sustainability and community.

New Zealand has once entered the top 50 list in a selection of destinations that offer the best value. Southern Lakes & Central Otago Chosen for its stunning scenery and abundance of outdoor activities, the guide suggests it doesn’t have to cost a lot.
