A 35-year-old Brazilian singer was electrocuted after hugging a soaked fan on stage.

35-year-old Brazilian rock singer Ayres Sasaki was electrocuted to death during a live performance on July 13, according to a report. Independent. The incident took place at Solar Hotel in Salinopolis. The singer touched a soaking-wet fan, which triggered an electric shock, killing him.

The reason why the fan was wet is not yet known, although the Salinopolis police said they are investigating. According to Brazilian magazine Istoe Gente, the para-civil police have indicated that witnesses have given evidence and authorities have asked for statements from experts.

Brazilian media Diario do Para reported that Mr Sasaki was electrocuted while playing his guitar, with most reports suggesting he died after hugging a fan. Solar Hotel shared a statement on Instagram and said it was cooperating with the investigation, saying, „Hotel Solar is deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved Ayres Sasaki. Since yesterday, we have been fully committed to supporting your family and taking care of the necessary arrangements. We have contacted your family directly to provide all the support you need during this difficult time.”

„We reiterate our commitment to fully cooperate with the appropriate authorities to provide the necessary clarifications. Our thoughts and condolences are with Ayers Sasaki’s family and friends at this difficult time,” they added.

Rita Matos, the singer’s aunt, told the Brazilian outlet, „We are contacting people who were with him to understand how everything happened. We will collect all the information in a statement we will publish to the press.”

Apart from singing, Mr Sasaki also worked as an urban planner. He lives with his wife. Both got married 11 months ago. His wife Mariana posted a message on her Instagram stories, saying, „I want to thank you for every prayer, every message of affection and comfort that we are going through in this difficult time. I can’t read them all. There are still messages, but I feel better and I will respond to each one.”
