The grieving family of a schoolboy who died after attending his first concert are planning a concert to celebrate his life.

Rhys Murray, 16, suffered an asthma attack while taking a break from exam revision so he could attend the In It Together festival in Neath Port Talbot Road.

Rhys, who loved the performing arts, died of complications from a severe asthma attack on the first day of the three-day festival at Old Park Farm.

Her brother Thomas, 19, paid tribute to the „amazing” Rhys – and wants to hold a concert in her honour.

„Rhys is my absolute world, he’s my rock and everything he can mean to someone,” Brother Thomas said.

„He was absolutely adored and adored by his family.”

Rice loved musical theater, performing on stage and boxing, Thomas added

„He was absolutely amazing singing and acting,” Thomas said.

Thomas appealed to help organize an event in his brother’s memory, saying it was his dream to have Luis Capaldi attend.

„He especially loved that genre and his lyrics meant a lot,” he said.

„If anyone can sing for Rhys, it’s him.”

Tributes were also paid to Rice by her school and the youth theater group she co-founded.

„It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Rhys Murray,” Afon Arts Youth Theater Group said in a statement.

“Rice was a very talented actor, a decent and respectful young man with a great sense of humor.

„We are privileged to have him and he will be greatly missed.”

Ysgol Cwm Brombil in Port Talbot called Rice a „valued student”.

„Our sincere condolences go out to the family and friends of this wonderful young man,” the school said in a statement.

South Wales Police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding Rice’s death and the coroner had been informed.
