The Australian men’s and women’s hockey teams clash FIH Pro League 2023-24.
Australia won the men’s category FIH Pro League degree in 2019 and runner-up in the 2020-21 edition. The Kookaburras missed the 2021-22 season due to Covid-19, but returned to the competition last season and finished a disappointing seventh.
The Australian men’s hockey team started its FIH Pro League 2023-24 campaign with a 4-3 win over Spain in Bhubaneswar and will conclude their season in London with a clash against hosts Great Britain on June 12.
Australia are currently second in the Men’s FIH Pro League 2023-24 points table with 20 points from eight games.
Meanwhile, the Australian women’s hockey team The season started with a shock 3-0 loss to the People’s Republic of China. The team will play their final against Great Britain on June 13.
The Australian women are looking for their first FIH Pro League title. Their best finish was second place behind Belgium in 2020-21.
Both the Australian men’s and women’s teams will play 16 matches each in the 2023-24 FIH Pro League campaigns. Four matches each were held for each team in the Indian cities of Bhubaneswar and Rourkela. The remaining matches will be played in Antwerp, Belgium and London, England.
The men’s and women’s champions of the FIH Pro League 2023-24 will earn a spot at their respective FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 tournaments, both co-hosted by the Netherlands and Belgium.
As both hosts have automatically qualified for the World Cup, Perth will go to the next best team in the table if one of the two finishes top of the table.
