Eid al-Fitr Ramadan, the holiest month in the Islamic calendar, ends when Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset, abstaining from food and drink. Every day during this month, Muslims focus on God-realization, self-reflection and self-improvement.

Shawwal, the Islamic month after Ramadan, begins immediately after the sighting of the crescent moon or „Shawwal moon”.
The first day of Shawwal brings Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan. A crescent moon is predicted to appear in the sky tonight, marking the end of Ramadan and the start of Eid al-Fitr.
The next day, Muslims wake up early to attend the obligatory Eid prayers at local mosques. Some Sunnahs, or the way of the Prophet, include wearing one's best clothes and perfume and saying the „Takbeer” to praise God on the way to the Eid prayer.
Muslims hug their friends and family and wish them Eid Mubarak, which means „blessed festival” in Arabic.

What is Ekai Thirunal?
Eid al-Fitr is the first of two celebratory days in the Islamic calendar, both of which are observed each year. Although the holiday is marked on one day, some countries celebrate the festival for up to three days.
Eid al-Fitr is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic calendar. Both holidays follow the Islamic Hijri calendar, the lunar cycle. Every year, the Ramadan and Eid holidays come about 11 days earlier than the previous year due to the lunar cycle. The sighting of the crescent moon determines the beginning of these holidays.
In Arabic Eid means „festival” or „feast” and Fitr means „breaking of the fast”. In other words, Eid al-Fitr means „the festival of breaking the fast”.
When is Eid al-Adha, the second Eid in the Islamic calendar?
The second Eid, Eid al-Adha, falls on the 10th day of the Islamic month of Du al-Hijjah, which is predicted to fall on the evening of June 16, and end on the night of June 17.
