Spring has sprung in many parts of the country, which means only one thing (if you're under a certain age) – spring break! (Woo!). But the TSA's increased number of passengers screened in 2023 means airports will likely be full, and the trend is expected to continue. Yair Ben-Dor is high.
SINGAPORE — Singapore Airlines has announced updates to its Premium Economy service. The changes include 175 new food menu items and all new dishware, as well as a new amenity kit available on request on flights of at least seven hours, designed by US-based sustainable lifestyle company Out of the Woods.
The carrier introduced its premium economy cabin in 2015, which offers more space and superior service compared to the traditional economy product. Thursday's announcement marks the first major change in service offerings in the class.
According to Betty Wong, Singapore Airlines' divisional vice president of in-flight service and design, the carrier's changes to its premium economy offerings were based on customer feedback, which showed that food and beverage options were the primary factor for most customers choosing to book. „Taste, choice and food portions are the most important factors that contribute to the premium economy class customers' inflight dining experience,” said Wong at a press briefing in Singapore on Thursday. Improved and expanded beverage options, a new amenity kit, the return of our hard copy menu so customers can see all the food items available on board.
Menu updates include new wine and champagne offerings, a larger tea selection, and new desserts like grilled beef tenderloin, seafood hor fun, lamb biryani and more.
The new service products will start rolling out on flights from March 31. The airline has not announced any new seat designs or layouts as part of the changes.
According to Singapore Airlines, premium economy is available on 42% of its flights, including Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Newark, San Francisco and Seattle.
Singapore Airlines' fare calendar shows that premium economy tickets will typically cost between $2,000 and $4,000 on US routes in the coming months.
