Jakarta (Antara) – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Tuesday attended a reception hosted by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese as part of the agenda of the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Center (MCEC) in Victoria, Australia.
According to a statement issued by the Presidential Secretariat, President Widodo arrived at the MCEC, ASEAN Leaders' Visitation Hall at 5:05pm local time and was immediately greeted by Prime Minister Albanese.
Albanese later invited Widodo and other heads of state for a group photo session. Widodo stood between Lao Prime Minister Sonexe Sibandon and Brunei Darussalam Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah for a photo.
Later, the Albanians, Widodo and other heads of state watched a traditional performance of the indigenous people's smoking ceremony, given by Wurundjeri First Nation elders.
Afterwards, President Widodo and other heads of state proceeded to the reception area.
Widodo said he would encourage discussions on electric cars and digital transformation at the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit.
„I will encourage cooperation on electric vehicles as soon as possible. Also, I think the direction is towards digital transformation,” he said in a press statement at Halim Pertanakusuma Air Force Base on Monday (March 4). Departs Australia.
Widodo will also discuss security cooperation with Albanis. Defense ministers of both countries have already explored such cooperation.
President visits Australia with Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto; Foreign Minister Redno Marsudi; Secretary of State Pratigno Minister; and Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), Basuki Hadimuljono.
