Fulham captain Tom Cairney said he was 'flabbergasted' by the inconsistency in refereeing decisions after Chelsea defender Malo Gusto escaped a red card during Saturday's 1-0 win.

Gusteau was only booked by Anthony Taylor in the first half at Stamford Bridge after Willian was caught by a Studs-first challenge.

Fulham manager Marco Silva called VAR Michael Salisbury's decision not to upgrade Gusteau's penalty a 'mistake', and Cairney added: 'When you think Dominic Calvert-Lewin was sent off for touching someone (for Everton at Crystal Palace in the FA Cup, a decision overturned on appeal) then it A yellow card… I'm just bamboozled.

'He has beaten him cleanly. He's got shin pads but he's hit him high and you can't do that in modern football.

'We looked on the laptop at half-time and all six studs were on his feet.

'We asked the ref at the time and he said it went to VAR to be checked, so we're very confused. I'm so confused, it's usually straight red.
