Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson Announces New Single 'Afterglow Of Ragnarok’, Confirms UK & Ireland Tour

’Afterglow of Ragnarok’ is the first single from the Iron Maiden frontman’s upcoming album 'The Mandrake Project’. First announced in September, the upcoming LP will mark Dickinson’s first solo album in 18 years since 2005’s 'Tyranny of Souls’ shared back.

Now, the iconic metal frontman has teased fans with the lead single from the release, promising that the song will stay true to his „heavier” roots and capture the album’s overarching themes.

„It’s important to set the tone for the program along this path,” Dickinson explained in a press release.

„As befits its title, it’s a heavy song and has a great big riff that drives it…but the band has a real melody that shows the light and shade that the rest of the album brings…and wait until you see the video!”

’Afterglow Of Ragnarok’ is set for release on December 1st via BMG. Check out the preview of the song below.

As confirmed earlier, 'The Mandrake Project’ will focus on the struggle that comes with establishing power and identity. It comes with a background of scientific and occult genius.

An exact release date for the album, which will be Dickinson’s seventh solo LP, has yet to be confirmed, however, it is expected to arrive sometime in 2024. It will be accompanied by a comic book series that further explores the album’s story.

As confirmed in a press release, more details about 'The Mandrake Project’ will be shared when Dickinson appears at Brazil’s Comic-Con event CCXP23 on November 30.

The 7″ release of the 'Afterglow of Ragnarok’ single will also feature a demo version of Dickinson’s original solo version of 'If Eternity Fail’ as a B-side – used by Iron Maiden in 2015. Book of Souls’. You can order it in advance Here.

Although specific details about the upcoming album are scarce, Dickinson did share details of a UK and Ireland tour next year.

Upcoming live shows will begin in spring 2024 with five shows across the UK. These stop at the Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow on 18 May and continue with a show at the O2 Academy in Manchester the following day.

From there, shows at Swansea Arena, Nottingham’s Rock City and London’s O2 Forum in Kentish Town are all scheduled before a run across Europe. This includes stops in France, Holland, Hungary, Sweden, Germany and more. Find a full list of shows and tickets Here.
