NAM: Auto workers strike will affect economy

Washington DC – Ahead of the midterm elections, the National Association of Manufacturers released its „Compete to Win” Policy Map, a comprehensive blueprint for immediate solutions to strengthen manufacturers’ competitiveness. It is a blueprint for policy makers on the laws and regulations needed to strengthen the manufacturing industry in the coming months and years.

As the country grapples with rising prices, supply chains and geopolitical turmoil, manufacturers are outlining a workable competitive plan that Americans across the political spectrum can support. „Competing to win” includes policies that manufacturers in the United States need to keep the nation moving forward.

„Competing to Win provides a path to unite our nation around principles, shared values and unified purpose,” said NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons. „Solutions to pressing issues such as energy security, immigration reform, supply chain disruptions, ongoing workforce shortages and more NAM presents a program full of ideas that policymakers can immediately pursue, including: Manufacturers have shown incredible resilience in tough times, hiring more workers now than before the pandemic, but continued resilience is not guaranteed without policies critical to the state of America’s manufacturing.

NAM and its members will use „competing to win” to shape policy debates, including direct engagement with lawmakers, grassroots activities, and grassroots activities for the remainder of the 117th Congress and the start of the 118th Congress — leading up to the midterm elections. We followed up the initial rollout of the roadmap in 2016 through traditional and digital media and events in key states and districts.

The document focuses on 12 measures, and all principles are rooted in the values that keep America exceptional and productive: free enterprise, competitiveness, individual liberty, and equal opportunity.
