Bashir is all set for his England debut as the visitors named their playing XI to face India in the second Test starting on Friday at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
Last week, Leach injured his left knee while fielding in the 28-run win against England. Later in the same game, he aggravated the injury by bowling 10 overs with a swollen ankle during the hosts' second innings.
Ben StokesThe skipper had earlier expressed confidence that Bashir would do well in his Test debut if fellow spinners Rehan Ahmed and Bashir were chosen as his partner. Tom Hartley.
„If he plays on this tour, the biggest thing in his side is, what's there to lose?” Stokes said.
„If he gets a chance to play, I'll think about it: make sure I can give him the best experience I can because you only play your first Test match once. If he does, then I'll try to be happy and have fun with him as much as I can,” he said.
