Where luxury meets tradition in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia

Unforgettable Labuan Bajo, TA’AKTANA, a luxury collection resort & spa, offers guests an incredible opportunity to explore Indonesia’s stunning (and under-touristed) island of Flores. Inspired by traditional lingo fields, the property thoughtfully blends luxury with the rich cultural heritage of the Mangarai people.

With its unique design and true commitment to providing unmatched, authentic experiences, this resort promises an unforgettable escape, as well as a fresh take on the overcrowded Southeast Asia like Bali and Thailand. The property is also the gateway to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Komodo National Park, one of the few places to see endangered Komodo dragons in their natural habitat. The waterfront property, which is Marriott International’s first property in Labuan Bajo and the Luxury Collection’s second property in Indonesia, is nestled between the jungle canopy and the beauty of the Flores Sea.

„We are proud to introduce the latest addition to our portfolio, TA’AKTANA, a luxury collection resort & spa, Labuan Bajo,” said Ramesh Jackson, Area Vice President, Marriott International, Indonesia & Malaysia. „This marks a significant milestone for Marriott International as we expand our presence in the captivating landscapes of Labuan Bajo. We invite travelers to explore and connect with the soul of Flores Island, where luxury is seamlessly intertwined with the rich cultural treasures of this captivating destination.

The name of the property, „Ta’agtana” means green land and is derived from the Mangarai language of Flores Island. It is a tribute to the lingo fields, unique web-shaped paddy fields that hold a special place in traditional Mangarai culture. Staying true to its roots, the hotel integrates the destination’s history, culture and indigenous traditions, offering visitors one-of-a-kind and authentic experiences of Labuan Bajo.

Come discover firsthand the rich culinary traditions of Labuan Bajo with three exclusive restaurants, a lounge and a bar that highlight the cuisine of the region. Leros, an all-day dining restaurant, serves authentic Indonesian fare. Umasa loved Indonesian food served family style. Tapa, a robada grill, specializes in ingredients meticulously sourced from the archipelago, prepared with refined Japanese techniques and elegance. Nera Lounge is stunning with its breathtaking sunset views, while guests savor tapas and cocktails. Drink the night away at Micah!, a funky bar with beautiful ocean views.

Inspired by Labuan Bajo’s famous caves, guests can’t resist the tranquil sanctuary offered by the hotel’s Thea Spa. The spa has six private treatment rooms, a steam room, a luxurious plunge pool and more. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with Mother Nature. Along with the beautiful design of the property and the perfect backdrop, TA’AKTANA also has the perfect oceanfront chapel for weddings.

“It is an honor to welcome guests to our haven in Labuan Bajo,” says Peter-Paul Gliese, Resort Manager of TA’AKTANA, a luxury collection resort & spa, Labuan Bajo. “Our resort is not just a destination; It is a journey into the heart of Labuan Bajo’s heritage and breathtaking landscapes. This property is a testament to our commitment to providing a unique and authentic guest experience that meets luxury heritage.
