Springfield, Mo. – UNI tennis came up short on the road Saturday afternoon, dropping its opening Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) 6-1 win over the Missouri State Bears at the Cooper Tennis Complex.

Adrijana Brgic took Northern Iowa's doubles point after defeating her opponent Christina Flecker 6-4, who eventually retired following the first set. Tarta Daleka Mary challenged Houston at second singles, but lost 6–3, 6–3.

Bears defeated Panthers in two of three doubles matches with Mary Houston and Sandra Lukakova (MSU) def. Brkic et al Kim Zizek (6-1), Duana Kunal and Juliet Robinson lost Isa Sullivan and Lasya Mailavarapu (6-1). The first doubles match was left unfinished after Missouri State took the doubles point.

The Tigers return to action on Friday, March 29, when they host Drake at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center in Des Moines at 4 p.m. UNI will host Murray State on Sunday, March 31 at 10 a.m. CT.
