DEPOK, WEST JAVA (ANTARA) – The University of Indonesia (UI) got the chance to host the „18th ASEAN and 8th ASEAN+3 Youth Cultural Forum” organized by the ASEAN University Network (AUN).
„This event aims to share different cultures and values with each other. Practically, the activities consist of cultural workshops, cultural tours and places to present unique traditional cultural programs,” UI Amelita’s head of public relations bureau and KIP Lucia said Saturday.
He noted that 100-150 participants from all AUN members Indonesia, Laos, Singapore, Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Brunei Darussalam and ASEAN+3 (Japan, South Korea and China) will attend the event. )
„The ASEAN and ASEAN+3 Youth Cultural Forum are annual events that bring together students from various leading universities in the ASEAN region, China, Japan and South Korea,” he noted.
Lucia said the event will be held May 14-19, 2023 at UI’s campus building in Tepok.
„Think-Feel-Act: Revive Stronger!’ With the theme, the event marks the return of the AUN event after a three-year delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” he noted.
Lucia explained that activities took place at the National University of Laos in 2019, before the pandemic. Meanwhile, UI also hosted the „12 ASEAN and 2nd ASEAN+3 Youth Culture Forum” on September 7-12, 2014.
Furthermore, the forum also serves as a platform to promote friendship and cooperation through cultural exchanges to strengthen understanding of diversity in the ASEAN + 3 regions.
He added that since there is a creative process in art, the forum will be an inspiration to better navigate through diversity.
Delegates will participate in a series of activities such as an academic lecture comparing the creative processes of placing artworks in the past and post-pandemic era, workshops and co-cultural programs by inviting students to study regional dance forms. and gamelan.
Activities will be spread across several venues on the UI Depok campus, including Balirung, Convention Hall and Buskiwa.
Also, students are scheduled to visit historical and cultural tourist sites such as Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) and witness the performance of Nusantara regional dance medley and angklung.
