Manchester United are working to complete a deal to sign left-back Sergio Reguilon on a short-term loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

The 26-year-old has been granted permission to travel and undergo a medical at the Old Trafford club after talks for Chelsea’s Mark Gugurella stalled.

Reguilon was also among United’s favorites following Luke Shaw’s injury, and they have now returned to that deal.

Chelsea initially demanded a £7million loan move for Cucurella and last night’s appearance in the Carabao Cup complicated the plans.

United preferred a January exit clause once Shaw is expected to be fit, however, Gugurella will not be eligible to appear at a third club this season.

United’s talks over Mark Gugurella have hit a deadlock over Chelsea’s £7million loan fee demands.

United, who are currently without Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malaysia through injury, are keen to bring in a new left-back.

There are concerns that Shaw could be out for around two months due to a muscle injury.

Reguilon joined Tottenham from Real Madrid in 2020 and has made 67 appearances for the north London club.

United manager Erik den Haag is keen to bring in a new left-back with Luke Shaw out injured.
