General 6 It promises to bring a total of 72 new Pokemon for you to catch Pokemon Co.
This is the youngest generation of Pokemon included in Pokemon Go; Gen 2 brought 100 new Pokemon, Gen 3 introduced 130, Gen 4 offers 107 Pokemon and Gen 5 has the highest number of new Pokemon at 156.
Excluding remakes and special editions of the main Pokémon series, Gen 6 was introduced with the release of the sixth installment, Pokémon X and Y. Like Gen 5, this generation focuses around the original creatures, meaning there are no new baby Pokemon or new evolutions for previous generations.

Here’s what we know about Gen 6 Pokemon
Gen 6 introduces 72 new Pokémon from the Galos region, which takes inspiration from Northern France. It includes a collection of new legendaries, the traditional three – grass, water and fire – starter Pokemon, and why not Klefki, the sentient key Pokemon.
Here are some interesting facts about how Gen 6 makes itself unique among the many Pokemon generations:
- Gen 6 saw the introduction of the Angel-type, the first new Pokemon type introduced since the introduction of Dark and Steel-type Pokemon in Gold and Silver. Not only were pure angel-type Pokemon like Spritzy introduced, but older Pokemon, such as Marill and Jigglypuff, became dual-types to increase the range of angel-type Pokemon.
- Sylveon, the eighth EV evolution, was introduced as part of Gen 6. To make it to the main line, Eevee must know at least one angel-type move and have a high friendship with you.
- Mega Evolution and various alternate forms for Absol, Mewtwo, and other Pokemon were introduced as part of this generation.
- Gen 6 is one of the most elaborate and unique evolution modes in the entire Pokemon series. If you want to transform Inkay into Malamar, you need to train Inkay to level 30, then when the evolution process starts, turn the console upside down. This was achieved with the Nintendo 3DS’s internal gyroscope, and as it was the first Nintendo handheld console to include a gyroscope, this evolutionary method was impossible in previous generations.
- Gen 6 is the first Pokemon generation without pure ground or electric type Pokemon.
- Thematically, Gen 6 centers around the concepts of beauty, balance and harmony. This is demonstrated by the famous Pokémon Xerneas and Yveltal, which represent the balance between life (Xerneas) and destruction (Yveltal).
The season of Shared Skies is here! Currently, the Scorching Steps event is running at the Pokemon Temple. Don’t forget to try Roots, Gift Exchange, and Party Play as you hunt for rare Pokémon, battle in Go Battle League, or compete in PokéStop Showcases.
Pokémon Go Gen 6 Pokémon List
Like previous Pokemon generations like Gen 5, most evolutions require you to collect a certain amount of candy.
However, expect to see a Gen 6 version of Unova and Shinno Stone, just like Gen 4 and 5, this generation has many Pokemon that will only evolve if traded while holding a certain item.
Many Pokemon are affected by the trading mechanic, which makes them easier to trade with another player.
