The pitch invader collided with the Newcastle goalkeeper

Chelsea managed to score in stoppage time to take their Carabao Cup quarter-final against Newcastle to penalties, but there were unsavory scenes following Michalo Mudric’s equaliser.

Martin Dubravka was charged with a pitch invasion after Chelsea’s dramatic equalizer against Newcastle in their Carabao Cup quarter-final clash.

The supporter clashed with the stopper moments after Mikailo Mudric headed in a stoppage-time equalizer for the home side. He ran onto the pitch during the celebrations and taunted Dubravka after Chelsea’s stoppage-time goal.

Dubravka walked away from the incident unharmed before stewards escorted the fan out. However, the incident did have an impact on the penalty shootout. The referee held a discussion with both managers before the spot-kicks were taken in front of the visiting supporters at Stamford Bridge.

Callum Wilson had given Newcastle the lead earlier in the first half as he profited from a Benoit Badiashaile error. It took until stoppage time for Chelsea to respond as Kieran Trippier made a mistake, allowing Mudric to equalize in the 92nd minute of the tie.

Cole Palmer, Callum Wilson and Conor Gallagher scored during the shootout, while Trippier’s night was made worse by his miss. Christopher Ngungu scored on his Blues debut and Bruno Guimaraes also netted.

Mudric added to his equalizer with another successful effort. Matt Ritchie was unable to find the net with a brilliant save from Djordje Petrovic, allowing Chelsea to secure their place in the last four.
