- New electric G-Class: legendary design language meets unique drive technology
- Off-road capabilities enter the electric era and open up unquestionable possibilities
- The MANUFAKTUR range offers almost unlimited customization possibilities
With the new Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ technology (combined energy consumption: 30.3-27.7 kWh/100 km | combined CO₂ emissions: 0 g/km | CO₂ class: A), the brand offers a three-point star to full electric power in its off- A variant of the road icon. It symbolizes the fusion of tradition and progress like no other. The new electric G-Class remains faithful to the character of the model, preserving its angular silhouette with all its iconic elements. Like conventional powered types, its body is built on a ladder chassis. The development team has modified and strengthened it to integrate electric propulsion. The combination of independent double-wishbone front suspension and newly developed solid rear axle is also maintained. A high-voltage lithium-ion battery integrated into the ladder chassis ensures a low center of gravity. Its usable capacity is 116 kWh, which provides enough energy to travel up to 473 kilometers according to WLTP.2.
„In its more than 45-year history, the G-Class has always used the most modern drive technology available. So it's entirely fitting that the innovative drive concept with four individually controlled electric motors once again elevates the legendary performance of our off-road icon to a new level, so familiar and our beloved.” Geländewagen” preserves the character.

The new electric G-Class sets the standard in the off-road segment
Four individually controlled electric motors located near the wheels generate a maximum power of 432 kW. Together with the selectable LOW RANGE reduction gear, they allow unique driving characteristics and exclusive functions. This allows the G-TURN to maneuver itself on loose or unpaved surfaces. The G-STEERING function can provide a significantly smaller turning radius when driving off-road. A three-speed off-road crawl function, similar to cruise control for off-road driving, maintains optimal propulsion while the driver focuses on navigating the terrain.
Like other variants, the new Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ technology can tilt up to 100% on suitable surfaces. The vehicle is stable on side slopes of up to 35 degrees. With a maximum fording depth of 850 millimeters, the electric G-Class is 150 millimeters longer than its conventionally powered counterparts. The LOW RANGE off-road reducer maximizes thrust with a special reduction ratio. The new model almost replicates the functionality of conventional differential locks with intelligent torque vectoring. G-ROAR provides a unique sound experience for the new electric G-Class. In addition to a characteristic, G-Class-specific driving sound, it includes an „Aura” sound and various „Event” sounds.
The new G 580 design with EQ technology continues the icon's legacy
The new electric G-Class is instantly recognizable as a member of the iconic G-Class family. A number of unique features distinguish the all-electric variant from conventionally powered models. These include a slightly raised bonnet and so-called air curtains in the rear wheel arches, and a design box at the rear. Together with the new A-pillar cladding and roof spoiler lip, they contribute to improved aerodynamics.
Extensive standard equipment, additional features and a digital off-road experience
The new Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ technology is equipped as standard with MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system, multifunction steering wheel in Nappa leather and ambient lighting. Optional extras include KEYLESS-GO, temperature-controlled cups, Burmester® 3D surround sound system and a 'clear hood' (two standard). A redesigned off-road control unit and new OFFROAD COCKPIT are available as options to enhance the off-road experience with additional digital functions. The Edition One, a limited edition model with an expanded range of standard features and exclusive design elements, will be available at launch.
1 The new Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ technology is available in Germany for 142,621.50 euros.
2 The specified values were determined according to the recommended WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure) measurement method. Ranges indicated refer to ECE markets. A vehicle's energy consumption and CO2 emissions depend not only on the efficient use of the vehicle's fuel or energy source, but also on driving style and other non-technical factors.
