Courtney Love took on several fellow female musicians over the weekend, dissing the likes of Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Lana Del Rey and Madonna.
„Taylor is not important,” the singer said in an interview stable. „She might be a safe place for women, maybe she's Madonna now, but she's not interested as an artist.”
Despite calling on Madonna to address Swift's success, Love didn't spare Madonna either: „I don't like her, she doesn't like me,” Love said.
Elsewhere in the interview, Love also mentioned that he didn't want Beyoncé's new country success. Cowboy CarterAlthough praising the album's symbolism as „black women going places where only white women were allowed before”.
„As a concept, I like it,” Love said. „I don't like her music.”
The love continued that Lana didn't like Del Rey. „I think she really should take seven years off,” he said, adding that he hasn't enjoyed Lana's music „ever since she wrote that John Denver song.”
„I thought she was great until 'Take Me Home Country Roads,'” Love continued. „When I was recording my new album, I had to stop listening to her because she affected me so much.”
Love accounts for much of the criticism she sees of female musicians merging in style.
„It's great that there are so many successful women in the music industry, but so many of them become a cliché,” she said. „Now, every successful woman has been cloned, so the music is overblown. They're all the same. If you play something on Spotify, you'll hit a lot of the same stuff.
